What this tool calculates
The exact duration between two dates in years, months and days on both calendars, plus total days, weeks and months, and working days after removing weekend days. A second tool adds or subtracts a number of days from any date.
Counting the end date, or not
This is the most common reason calculators disagree:
- Excluding the end date (default): 1 January 2026 → 31 December 2026 is 364 days (11 months and 30 days).
- Including the end date: the same range is 365 days, one full year.
Rule of thumb: include the end date when counting days that are spent (e.g. leave that includes the last day); exclude it when measuring how much time has passed between two events.
Working days and weekends
The default weekend is Friday and Saturday (Saudi Arabia). You can switch to Saturday–Sunday, Friday only, or no weekend. Example: all of September 2026, end date included, has 30 days, of which 22 are working days with a Friday–Saturday weekend. Public holidays are not subtracted automatically.
Hijri dates
Either date can be entered in Hijri. The same span is grouped differently on each calendar: 364 days show as “11 months and 30 days” in Gregorian but “1 year and 10 days” in Hijri, since 364 days is longer than a Hijri year.
Adding and subtracting days
Enter a date and a number of days, then choose Add or Subtract. Example: 1 January 2026 + 90 days = Wednesday 1 April 2026. To find someone’s age on a date, use the Age Calculator; to convert one date between calendars, use the Hijri–Gregorian Converter.
