Why is it called Muharram?

The name means “forbidden”: the Arabs forbade fighting in it. It became the first month of the Hijri calendar when dating from the Hijra was adopted in the time of Umar ibn al-Khattab, even though the Hijra itself took place in Rabi al-Awwal.
